Wednesdays at FOREST HALL and Thursdays at CRAMLINGTON are informal evenings which aim to be an intimate introduction to modern jive - for absolute beginners, we offer an informal class from 8pm - 8.40 and one to one teaching of individual moves which can be practiced at the freestyle later in the night. Members who have danced for years are happy to encourage and support beginners.
Each week we will teach just a few moves so that everyone has the opportunity to extend their repertoire of modern jive moves.

DANCING FOR CHARITY IS a group of like minded people devoted to raising funds for local charities, while having a fun sociable time.
Come along, whether you are a couple, single or in a group, you will be made truly welcome. The age range is 20 ish to ??
(sorry~ no under 18's -social club rules) and what we all have in common is a love of dancing and a need to have fun! Check out the smiling faces, see the effect dancing has! .......
Our DJ understands how important the music is to get us all on the floor. We will play a great range and take suggestions from members too. In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere beginners can learn to jive in just six weeks.
We have several experienced dancers who will lead you into beginner moves, teaching just a little at a time. We start the evening at 7.45 with a warm up/ beginners class , individual help for beginners is available on request.
However, nearly everyone will join the class to learn a new move or two or just to warm up and break the ice, the moves are beginner and intermediate combined, and everyone has fun learning together. Then it's FREESTYLE all night until 11pm. Occasionally we will bring in a guest teacher to introduce some more intermediate moves, tailored to suit the needs of our members.
The venue is an airy, dimly lit, room with a great dancefloor. The bar prices are very reasonable and entry is only £3.

ABOUT JIVE
Modern Jive is a partner dance which is easy and fun to learn. Whether you come with friends, a partner or alone, this is a guaranteed way to keep fit, socialise, and have fun. With experienced and friendly tutors, you will be able to learn the basics for this dance in a relaxed and fun environment. In just a few weeks (yes weeks not years!) you could be confident enough to get up on the floor with any other dancers. The Modern Jive network is open to anyone of any age and wherever you learn you can dip in and out of classes and social events all over the world learning as you go.
MODERN JIVE is truly laid back, fun and as energetic and stylish as you want it to be. The music we Jive to is extremely varied from 1940's tracks to the latest chart hits with all kinds of stuff in between. The guy is the lead and the ladies must follow and with only 10 moves under your belt you can get on the floor and look like you know what you are doing! There are however, over a thousand moves to learn if you feel ambitious.

What to Wear
Shoes - guys just something comfortable with smooth soles if possible trainers are not that good as you need to be able to spin just a little. Girls - spinning is part of the dancing so smooth soles are pretty important, dance shoes are best but if you don't have them, wear something comfortable, not sling backs or really high heels. For expert help on what to wear why not visit Yanine at Blush Dance in South Shields or check out the website.
Clothes - absolutely anything you like - you can dress up, (it is a night out after all), or just jeans and T-Shirt. Guys; it is a really good idea to bring along a spare shirt and a small towel as it can be pretty hot and sweaty.
Deodorant is good too!! You are gonna get up close!
